The Wilhemshavener City and Harbor festival WOCHENENDE AN DER JADE takes place annually on the first weekend in July. All of Wilhelmshaven celebrates alongside visitors from near and far in this colorful maritime festival.
Numerous ships take anchor in Wilhelmshaven, displaying a fantastic diversity: ships from both Germany and abroad, steamboats, antique ships, and other crew ships invite visitors aboard during Open-Ship. Tall ships paint a splendid sight and offer seafaring passengers an exciting voyage on the water. The marina also opens its doors for guests to enjoy special exhibits during the festival.
The sea serves as a backdrop for the open-air stage, which, together with the party tents, host over 80 musical groups. Next to a wide-range of catering options, organizations and clubs from in and out of Wilhelmshaven welcome interested visitors. Imaginative family and children programs, the ‘Hexendorf’, a street artist festival, the Jade-Dragonboat-Cup, the International Antique Car Show, and the spectacular firework finale offer something for everyone and confirm Wilhelmshaven’s reputation as a friendly and diverse harbor city. Wilhelmshaven Sailing-CUP: September/October 2024
Each year on a weekend, we say ‘Cast away!’ to the sailors in the JadeWeserPort-CUP. Numerous tall ships compete in a regatta which runs through the new JadeWeserPort. The weekend, which includes the Kajenmarkt and Schlemmermeile, Sunday shopping, giant fireworks display, and traditional sailing, is enjoyable for anyone young or old.
