It is the biggest sailing event in the world and at the same time the biggest summer festival in Europe: the Kieler Woche. Every year at the end of June, the sailing and festival week offers ten days of world-class sport, music, culture, maritime events, experiences and lots of fun and games for young and old. Kieler Woche is a socio-political platform for diplomats and politicians and a meeting place for more than three million people from five continents. This special mixture gives Kieler Woche an incomparable flair.

Kieler Woche is an event of surprises and moments, of encounters and diversity as well as an event of cosmopolitan sailing, water and current.

Originating from a sailing regatta in 1882, the Kieler Woche still offers sailing in its entire fascinating range today. This year, more than 4,500 sailors from over 50 nations will be competing in exciting races on the Kiel Fjord and the Baltic Sea. The maritime highlight is the traditional windjammer sailing parade with over 100 large traditional ships and many small sailing boats.

On land, numerous colourful music stages await visitors with hundreds of pop, rock and classical music concerts. At the Kieler Woche-Hoftheater in Hiroshimapark, puppet theatres for children and adults will be playing. A culinary classic is the International Market on Rathausplatz. And the Spiellinie, Germany's largest open-air children's cultural offer, invites the youngest Kieler Woche fans to play, build, listen, muddy and have lots of fun.

Kieler Woche 2022 will be a great voyage of discovery for all visitors, with many very personal moments, shared memories and a bond with the blue element.
